Marvin and Gwen Cowart are founding elders of Harvest Church of Southeast Texas. With the desire to see the body of Christ function in freedom, Marvin and Gwen are deliverance ministers in both teaching and personal ministry sessions.

They have introduced several groups including our senior group "Smart People", Freedom Riders Motorcycle Club and Bow Benders Archery Club. The Cowart's ministry resume includes teaching, praise and worship, altar prayer ministry, youth ministry and spiritual warfare ministry. Prior to Harvest Church of Southeast Texas, Marvin has served as a youth pastor, teacher, and elder.

In a world where there are many missing fathers, Marvin has an incredible spirit of adoption, and is a spiritual father to many, along with Gwen's nurturing spirit they have impacted the lives of others at Harvest Church and the Jasper area.

The daughter of an evangelistic pastor, Gwen traveled with her family throughout the Southeast Texas area singing. She has also served as a teacher, praise and worship leader, and elder. Together their openness and desire for transparency in their own lives, brings hope and encouragement to others.

They are parents to Jason, who was the first ordained pastor at Harvest Church, where he served as a staffed pastoral assistant, praise and worship leader, and youth pastor. He is also an author and songwriter. He and his wife Monique currently lead Oxygen, a ministry targeting the 18-30 yr-old demographic, in Marshall, Texas. Jason also owns a design firm, Cre8ive Design Media. Jason and Monique have one child, Vivianne Kinsey.

The Cowart's also raised their niece, Callie Murphy, trial attorney in Houston. Callie appeared in the major motion picture "One Night with the King" and many print, television and film. Michael Sarver, recording artist and American Idol Finalist, lived with Marvin and Gwen, giving him support and guidance. Michael and his wife, Tiffany, have two children, Makenna and Grayson. Marvin and Gwen have also provided a home to other young adults and teens on a short-term basis.
